Network Interconnection for Arista 7500R Series Switch
There is a tendency nowadays that large-scale data centers and networks demand for a mix of 10Gb, 40Gb and 100Gb Ethernet interface speeds, with the purpose of utilizing a wider range of flexible connectivity options. And for simple migrations to satisfy future network speeds and density requirements. In this case, Arista launched its 7500R series switch, which offers a wide range of standards based interconnect options. The 7500R series allows the maximum flexibility and scalability in the data center while maintaining investment protection. This article explains interconnection options for Arista 7500R series switch.
Arista 7500R Series Description
The Arista 7500R series is designed to build modular switches that deliver the industry’s highest performance. With 115Tbps of system throughput, it is capable of satisfying the needs of the largest scale data centers. The 7500R series combines scalable L2 and L3 resources and high density with advanced features for network monitoring, precision timing and network virtualization while simplifying designs and reducing costs.
Available in a choice of a 12, 8 and 4 slot system while combining high density 10/40 and 100GbE with low latency and wire speed performance, the Arista 7500R series is designed for large virtualized data centers and mission critical environments. It can support up to 1,728 ports of 10GbE or 432 ports of 100GbE. Every 100GbE interface supports a choice of 5 speeds including 25GbE and 50GbE, thus providing unparalleled flexibility, as well as the ability to seamlessly data center transition to the next generation of Ethernet performance.
Arista 7500R Series Highlights
The Arista 7500R can handle the most demanding data center requirements with ease while still delivering low latency. This series is specifically built for high availability and continuous operations. The following concerns some of its highlights:
Arista 7500R Series Line Cards Analysis
The 7500R offers a choice of line cards, with consistent support for the full set of 7500R features. The options are 7500R-36CQ, 7500R-36Q and 7500R-48 S2CQ, and the description of each is presented below.
The Arista 7500R-36CQ allows for a high degree of flexibility in a mixed 10G/40G/100G environment. All 36 ports can operate as either a single 100Gb or 40Gb Ethernet port. So they are able to support 4 x 10G Ethernet, 4 x 25G Ethernet or 2 x 50G Ethernet. This flexibility allows for a choice of 5 speeds on all ports and allow for simple migration from 10G to 100G and a wide range of combinations.
The Arista 7500R-36Q allows for a wide range of flexibility in a mixed 10G/40G environment. All QSFP+ ports can operate as either a single 40Gb Ethernet port. With up to 24 ports able to support 4x10G mode and 6 ports of 1x100G mode. These interface speed choices allow for simple migration from 10G to 100G and a wide range of possible
combinations as well.
Interconnection Options for Arista 7500R Series
The 7500 series switch offers three different physical interface choices – SFP+, QSFP+, QSFP100 to provide a wide variety of port density, link distance and interface speed combinations. Choosing the correct module and optic option depends on the design requirements of the data center.
To sum it up, a wide range of transceiver modules and cable options allow the 7500R series to grow, scale, and interoperate with almost any data center design and requirements. fiber-mart.com offers all above Arista compatible transceivers, DACs and AOCs with affordable prices and high performance.
