FC fiber optic connector
The FC connector is a fiber optic connector with a threaded body, which was designed for use in high-vibration environments. It is commonly used with both single-mode optical fiber and polarization-maintaining optical fiber. FC connectors are used in datacom, telecommunications, measurement equipment, and single-mode lasers. They are becoming less common, displaced by SC and LC connectors. The FC connector has been standardized in a FOCIS 4 (Fiber Optic Connector Intermateability Standards) in EIA/TIA-604-04. FC is an acronym for “ferrule connector” or “fiber channel”
FC connectors offer extremely precise positioning of the fiber optic Cable with respect to the transmitter’s optical Source Emitter and the receiver’s optical detector. They feature a position locatable notch and a threaded receptacle. FC connectors are generally constructed with a metal housing and are nickel-plated. They have ceramic ferrules and are rated for 500 mating cycles. The Insertion Loss for matched FC connectors is 0.25 dB. FC is the Fiber Optic Connector standard for Nippon Telephone & Telegraph (NTT) installations, developed with Nippon Electric Co. (NEC). TIP: The FC screws on firmly, but make sure you have the Key aligned in the slot properly before tightening.
Fiber-Mart supply the FC fiber optic connectors which are compatible with IEC 61 754-143 standards, these products are good compatibility to use in telecommunications, CATV, LAN, WAN, medical and on test and measurement fiber optic devices.
