LC ConnectorLC Fiber Connector designed for duplex lc applications, Curing epoxy and Crimping needed for lc upc connector, lc apc connector, lc connector, and lc duplex connector. The LC connector is a small form-factor fiber optic connector known for its high port density, featuring a 1.25 mm ferrule that is half the size of older SC connectors. It uses a push-pull latching mechanism for secure and easy operation and is most commonly used in a duplex configuration for modern networking equipment in data centers and offices, supporting both single-mode and multimode fibers.
Introduction
The Epoxy-Type LC Connector is a fundamental, field-installable component engineered for creating permanent, high-performance terminations in duplex fiber optic systems. Designed around the industry-standard small form-factor LC interface with its 1.25 mm ferrule, this connector is the cornerstone for achieving high port density in modern networks. Requiring a process of epoxy adhesive curing and mechanical crimping, it provides a robust and reliable termination for both UPC and APC polish types, supporting single-mode and multimode fibers. It is the essential building block for crafting custom-length duplex patch cables and securing permanent links in data centers and telecommunications infrastructure.
Features
● Features the standard 1.25 mm ceramic ferrule, enabling high-density connections in patch panels and transceivers. ● Utilizes a durable epoxy adhesive for bonding the fiber within the connector, ensuring a strong, permanent, and low-loss connection. ● Includes a crimp sleeve that, when applied, secures the cable's strength member (aramid yarn) to the connector body, providing essential mechanical robustness. ● Supports both single-mode (9/125µm) and multimode (50/125µm, 62.5/125µm) fiber types for versatile application use. ● Can be assembled and polished to either Ultra Physical Contact (UPC) or Angled Physical Contact (APC) standards to meet specific optical return loss requirements. ● Designed and supplied as part of a system for creating balanced, polarity-correct LC duplex patch cables and pigtails. ● Incorporates the reliable, easy-to-operate LC latch for secure connections and quick insertions/removals in high-density environments.
Principles
This connector operates on the principle of creating a permanent, precision-aligned interface between a bare optical fiber and the network equipment port. The process begins by injecting a fast-curing epoxy adhesive into the connector's ferrule. The prepared, stripped fiber is then inserted through the connector and into the ferrule. After the epoxy cures (often accelerated with a curing oven), it permanently bonds the glass fiber to the ceramic ferrule. The protruding fiber end is then cleaved and polished—using a series of increasingly fine abrasive films—to create a perfectly smooth, flat (UPC) or angled (APC) end-face. This polished face ensures optimal physical contact with the mating adapter, minimizing back-reflection and insertion loss. Finally, the connector's crimp mechanism is applied to anchor the cable's strength members, transferring any tensile load away from the fragile glass fiber and ensuring long-term mechanical reliability.
Applications
● Field Termination of Optical Cables: Used by technicians to create custom-length patch cords or to terminate building backbone and horizontal cabling on-site. ● Data Center High-Density Patching: Building reliable LC duplex patch cables for connecting servers, switches, and storage devices in space-constrained racks. ● Fiber Distribution Panel Build-Outs: Installing connectorized pigtails onto splice trays within fiber enclosures and patch panels in telecommunications rooms. ● Network Maintenance and Repair Kits: Serving as a core component in field repair kits for restoring damaged connectors or creating emergency links. ● Equipment and Module Manufacturing: Used in the production of fiber optic transceivers, active optical cables, and other integrated optical devices requiring terminated fiber interfaces.
